Anurag Basu’s Famous Five: His Best Films

Be it directing or screenwriting, there is one director we trust implicitly – Anurag Basu. With critically acclaimed films and TV shows, he has become one of the leading directors in Bollywood, and with good reasons. Let’s look at his 5 best films to celebrate this great man.

1. Barfi!

Featuring Ranbir Kapoor, Illeana D’Cruz, and Priyanka Chopra in lead roles, Barfi! was a romantic comedy that won the hearts of many. A love triangle between the three leads to heartbreak, relationships, and love that transcends life. Basu’s direction lends this drama a very light edge, which makes the film fun to watch.

2. Ludo

One of the best films to come out of 2020, Ludo has Basu in a cameo role and well as the director, where he gives us 4 brilliant stories at the cost of one. With an amazing cast like Sanya Malhotra, Pankaj Tripathi, Fatima Sana Shaikh, Asha Negi, Rajkumar Rao, Aditya Roy Kapoor, and Abhishek Bachchan and the story of how life f**ks with everyone once in a while, this was an entertaining watch.

3. Murder

For many, this was the first film many watched hiding away from their parents. Featuring Mallika Sherawat, Emraan Hashmi, and Ashmit Patel, this thriller talks of an extramarital affair, mystery, and deception. It grabbed the attention of many for its adult scenes and still continues to be one of the boldest films in Bollywood.

4. Life In A Metro

With a brilliant cast like Shiney Ahuja, Kangana Ranaut, Shilpa Shetty, Konkona Sen Sharma, Irrfan Khan, Kay Kay Menon, and Nafisa, Life In A Metro is a personal favorite. A story of people in Bombay, whose lives change when it gets intertwined with others, this story of love and life in the metro was loved by many, and its songs are still considered classics.

5. Kites

A thriller featuring Barbara Mori, Hrithik Roshan, Kangana Ranaut, and others, Kites was known more for its offline drama. Even so, you cannot cast the brilliance aside, as we loved the film, the songs, the cinematography, and everything that Anurag Basu makes, to be honest.
