We cannot keep calm because Mirzapur ka second season is about to drop soon. 23-10-20 AKA 23rd October 2020 is the date on which the internet is going to crash. Because ever since the series came out on Prime Video in 2018, it has had a sudden and growing fanbase.
Here’s your chance to do some homework on the crazy web series, so you’re well prepped for Season 2:
Pankaj Tripathi’s non-scripted, improvised dialogue
“Tum Vishudh Chutiye Ho” is one of Mirzapur’s most iconic dialogues, but did you know that it’s also an improvised one? That’s right; Ali Fazal revealed in an interview that Pankaj Tripathi is known to be a master of improv, and came up with that gem on the spot. A true artist.
The opium was fake
Anyone who watches the show knows just how much opium features in its episodes. But, surprise surprise, the opium was fake. It was made by two different types of “barfi” — fake opium. The first type was made by melting dark chocolate and adding milk to it, while the other one was made from dark clay.
Shooting locations weren’t always in Mirzapur
Although the web series is set in the titular town Mirzapur in Uttar Pradesh, it wasn’t always the centre of shooting locations. The series is shot pretty much throughout UP, including in Varanasi, Ghazipur, Lucknow, Gorakhpur, Azamgarh and Jaunpur.
In fact, Akhanda’s house is in Varanasi
Akhanda’s house is shot in the ‘Moti Jheel Haveli’ in Varanasi. Production designers apparently took around 10 days to restore the external part of the haveli, all the while preserving the original paintings and architecture.
Vijay Varma will star in Season 2!
This might no longer be a “lesser known” fact, but we are so excited that Vijay Varma is going to join the gritty world of Kaleen Bhai and Guddu in Mirzapur. Varma, along with Anjum Sharma, Isha Talwar and veteran actor Lilliput are all set to join this universe. Rumour has it that Varma’s character is eyeing Kaleen Bhai’s throne. Things are about to get dangerous.
Abhishek Banerjee is casting director and actor!
You might know Abhishek Banerjee as Subodh AKA Compounder from Mirzapur, apart from his other popular roles in Stree and Paatal Lok. But did you know that he was also the casting director of Mirzapur season 1? He is a man of many talents, and definitely belongs in the entertainment world.
Season 2 will feature ‘Golu’ like never before
In season 2 of Mirzapur, Golu picks up guns and in a fully vengeful avatar. “Hum taiyar hain” Shweta Tripathi wrote as she shared the second season’s promo, and it seems like Golu is going to join hands with Guddu to take down Kaleen Bhaiya and Munna, in order to avenge her partner Bablu’s (played by Vikrant Massey) death. Can’t wait!
