New Indian Web Series to Binge Watch All Weekend

Lockdown has eased, but cases are rapidly rising. I know how frustrating it is to stay at home (my house has also turned into a mini-Bigg Boss), but it is extremely crucial right now. I know you must miss the excitement of almost missing your train, running to football class and bunking college to watch a movie with your friends. Those are the small things that make life exciting na, that make us feel like we’re somehow living on the edge. Now, all of that has been taken away from us because a virus has literally made life dangerous. Doing anything outside our homes is basically living life on the edge.

Thank God for TV. And thank God for the plethora of crime series that are available for all of us to watch online. They’re adrenaline-rushing and thrilling, making us feel like we’re part of police chases and drug gangs, caught between one crime and another.

Some really cool web series have launched the last couple of days, and since it’s officially the end of the week, you should definitely catch them all weekend. Binge watch them and tell us what you thought!

Aarya on DisneyPlus Hotstar

Aarya seems to be the comeback of many stars from the 90s, in entirely new avatars: Sushmita Sen, Chandrachur Singh, Vikas Kumar in the leads. Based on the Dutch drama series, Penoza, Aarya is a crime thriller drama about Aarya Sareen, played by Sen, a mother of three who is pulled into her family’s shady business. After initial reluctance she dives right in and pulls the strings, making her an interesting character to watch through all the twists and turns. It released today, so watch it on DisneyPlus Hotstar!

Lalbazaar on Zee5

Set in Kolkata, this Zee5 web series released today and has created quite a buzz online. The popular Lalbazaar police department in Kolkata is often referred to as the Scotland Yard of India, and this web series jumps straight into the underbelly and crime of the region with complex characters who can neither be locked into protagonists nor antagonists. It’s interesting, with a talented cast: Ronjini Chakraborty, Dibyendu Bhattacharya and Sabyasachi Chakraborty in the leads. Stream it on Zee5.

Your Honor on SonyLiv

Starring Jimmy Shergill, Mita Vasisht, Varun Badola and Parul Gulati, Your Honor is SonyLiv’s latest crime thriller-court drama. A spinoff of the award-winning Israeli series Kvodo, Your Honor explores the muddles of what happens when family and the law are mixed. Shergill’s character, Bishan, is a district judge whose life becomes complicated when his son is implicated in a hit-and-run case. This makes him question how far he’s willing to go to bend the law, even putting his job at stake. Your Honor released yesterday and is available to watch on SonyLiv.

So, your welcome. Have a fantastic, binge-watching weekend and try to stay in as much as possible. Oh, and give us your reviews of all these shows! We’d love to hear honest reviews from the audience.
